As per a report, there have been no casualties but the set which is situated in the outskirts of Mumbai has been completely destroyed by the cyclone.A source told the publication, “There were about 40 people on the set when the cyclone hit the ‘Maidaan’ set- the guards and the curators of the football ground which largely comprises the set. They tried their best to save as much as they could but their efforts proved almost totally futile.”

Unfortunately, this is the second time that ‘Maidaan’ has suffered a big blow. Earlier, a 16-acre set built for the film was dismantled in May 2020 owing to the COVID-19 lockdown.

‘Maidaan’ is based on the life of the football player, the late Syed Abdul Rahim and south Indian actress Priyamani plays the female lead in the film.

Apart from Maidaan, the sets of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger 3 was also ruined because of the cyclone.

With at least 11 dead, the fury of Cyclone Tauktae on Monday brought in record highest rains and unprecedented levels of destructions in the coastal districts of Maharashtra, officials said on Tuesday.
