The debate over the southern and northern Indian languages often arises. Actor Ajay Devgn is a cool-minded Bollywood actor who rarely indulges in any controversy. But his sharp reaction to Kiccha Sudeep’s recent comment on the Hindi language surprised his fans. Sudeep, a Kannada actor, recently said that Hindi is no longer the national language of India.

Ajay tagged Kiccha in his tweet, which was written entirely in Hindi. “My brother, if according to you, Hindi is not our national language, then why do you release your movies in your mother tongue by dubbing them in Hindi?” Our mother tongue and national language was, is, and will always be Hindi. Jan Gan Man, “Ajay wrote.

At a recent event, Kiccha Sudeep said, that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I’d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no longer a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling to find success by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it’s not happening.

Hindi audiences watch films like RRR & KGF

He further added that “today we are making films that are going everywhere.” He was speaking in the context of films such as RRR and KGF Chapter 2 that have found success even with Hindi-speaking audiences.

The spat between two actors has taken on a political colour. The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai, has also commented on the language row.

“What Sudeep has said is right. After the formation of states, they had their own regional languages. Those mother tongues have assumed importance in the respective states. What Sudeep has said is right. Each of us should respect this, “he said.

It is a rare occasion when Ajay Devgn openly criticises anyone on social media. He said, “There are so many things that happen in the country that we choose to speak about and we choose not to speak about because they are taken very differently, and if you are trying to be honest about something, then it can be taken differently.” He said there’ll be a section that’ll be with you and another big chunk of people who’ll not be with you, and you’ll have a fear of that.
