Mumbai: Akshay Kumar, the noted Bollywood actor, is known to charge a high fees for working in a movie. Speaking recently at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, the actor revealed that the film industry needs to change its existing system and make several changes to entice the audience to watch movies in theaters. He stressed the need to cut down on the cost of movie outings and further added that he is ready to lower his fees too for that.

Akshay was present on the final day of HTLS 2022 on Saturday. He took part in a session on cinema with fellow actor Ram Charan, where Akshay expressed his views amid issues being faced by Bollywood. While addressing why Hindi films have flopped at the box office in recent times, Akshay gave his suggestions on what is going against the industry. He said, “What is happening, as far as my thinking is concerned, has totally changed.” The audience likes to watch something different. 

He then expressed his views on what the industry should do to reduce the number of film outings. There are several things that need to be done. Everyone has to come forward, such as actors, producers, and theatres as well. I’ll tell you I want to bring my prices down by 30-40%. 

The Indian film industry has started its work on this line. Notably, the film industry has lowered ticket prices in many phases this year to attract audiences to theatres. At the outset, the experiment has been quite successful.

Most theatres all over the country lowered their ticket prices in September by Rs 75. This experiment really turned the tide, which saw a huge increase in the number of cinegoers going to watch films in cinemas. 1000 percent jump, with many shows all over the country sold out.
