It will be available in four trims – XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech. Bookings for the Tata Tiago EV hatchback will open from October 1 and deliveries will begin in January.
Tata Tiago EV: powertrain and charging
Tata is offering the Tiago EV with two different battery packs. The smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack variants are offered with a 3.3 kW AC charger, while the variants with the larger 24 kWh battery pack get a 7.2 kW AC charger. The 19.2 kWh battery will provide the car a range of 250 km on a single full charge, while the larger battery is claimed to offer a range of 315 km.
The Tiago EV is powered by Tata’s Ziptron high-voltage architecture that uses a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The 7.2 kW charger can fully charge the battery in 3 hours and 36 minutes, while a DC fast charger can charge the battery from 10 to 80% in 57 minutes.
Tata Tiago EV: exterior design
In terms of design, the Tiago EV is similar to the ICE-powered Tiago, which received a facelift in 2020. However, to differentiate it as an EV, it sports electric blue accents around the body and blue highlights inside the headlamps. On the feature front, the Tiago EV gets a touchscreen infotainment system, electric ORVMs, cruise control, push button start/stop, leatherette seats, auto headlamps, and much more.
Tata Tiago EV: interior and features
Inside the cabin, Teal blue accents have also been used within the cabin in place of the chrome-finished trim pieces. The gear lever has also been replaced with a rotary dial for the drive mode selector and features a Sports mode.
In terms of equipment, the Tiago EV gets automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, push button start/stop, and cruise control. For safety, the electric hatchback gets ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera and seat belt reminder. It also gets multi-mode regen braking that was first introduced with the Nexon EV Max.
Tata Tiago EV: rivals
As of now, the Tata Tiago EV has no direct rival in the Indian market. It is priced lower than the Tata Tigor EV. However, Citroen is all set to debut the fully-electric version of the C3 in the country tomorrow, which will serve as a competitor to the Tata EV.
