All set for counting day in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura assembly elections 2023; BJP hopes for big win

New Delhi: A lot is at stake for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the three electoral states of the Northeast. The election results of these states will be out today which will indicate whether the BJP has strengthened its foothold in Tripura since wresting its bastion from the Left in 2018.

It will also be clear from the election results whether the BJP, which is in power in most of the North-Eastern states, has been able to strengthen its presence in Meghalaya and Nagaland or whether the opposition has been able to make a dent in its influence.

Among the three states, Tripura is such a state on which everyone’s eyes are on at the national level because ideologically it is considered very important for the BJP to win here. It is also significant because the traditional rivals Congress and the Left have joined hands for the first time to challenge the BJP in the elections to the state’s 60-member assembly.

In this fight between the national parties, Tipra Motha led by Pradyot Debbarma has also emerged as a dominant force in the politics of the state.

What is exit poll prediction
The exit polls for the Nagaland assembly elections have predicted a massive victory for the BJP-NDPP alliance. According to India Today-Axis My India exit polls, BJP-NDPP alliance is projected to get 38-48 seats, NPF 3-8 seats, Congress 1-2 seats and others 5-15 seats. The exit poll of Times Now ETG shows BJP-NDPP getting 39-49 seats, NPF 4-8 seats. Whereas the account of Congress is not opening. In Nagaland’s 60-member assembly, 31 seats are necessary for a majority.

Hung assembly predicted in Meghalaya

On the other hand, talking about the exit polls of Meghalaya, the screw is showing stuck here. Most of the exit polls have predicted a hung assembly here. The India Today-Axis My India exit poll has given 18-24 seats to NPP, 4-8 seats to BJP, 6-12 seats to Congress, 5-9 seats to TMC and 4-8 seats to others.

Will BJP-NPP form an alliance?

In Times Now ETG exit poll, NPP is predicted to get 18-26 seats, BJP 3-6 seats, TMC 8-14 seats, Congress 2-5 seats. In Meghalaya, Konrad Sangma’s NPP can once again form a government with the BJP. He had also indicated this after the exit polls. He had said that if there is a need for an alliance with the BJP after the results, a decision will be taken in the interest of the state.
