Amarnath Yatra 2024: Advanced Registration Opens for Devotees

Amarnath Yatra 2024 : Preparations are underway for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2024, with advanced registration for pilgrims commencing today (April 15). Officials are working diligently to ensure a safer and more comfortable journey for devotees participating in the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine.

Schedule and Details

In a statement released, the board announced, “The advanced registration for Amarnathji Yatra 2024 commences on April 15, 2024.” The pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on June 29 and conclude on August 19.

Annual Pilgrimage to ‘Baba Barfani’

Located 141 km from Srinagar at an altitude of 12,756 feet, the holy cave of Amarnath draws lakhs of devotees from across the country every year. Pilgrims visit during ‘Shravani Mela’ in July-August (Shravan month in the Hindu calendar) to worship ‘Baba Barfani’, with the annual ‘Amarnath Yatra’ marked by ‘Pratham Pujan’.

Specialized Training for NDRF and SDRF Personnel

Ahead of the pilgrimage, officials are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and comfort of devotees. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel are undergoing specialized training to join the Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Deployment of MRTs

The MRTs, consisting of personnel from Jammu and Kashmir Police, SDRF, NDRF, and CRPF, will be stationed at critical spots on the twin routes to the holy cave shrine. These teams are equipped and trained to handle any emergencies or challenges that may arise during the pilgrimage.

Ensuring Pilgrim Safety

Ram Singh Salathia, Jammu and Kashmir MRT Team In-charge, emphasized the importance of this preparation: “The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will start in June and will last for about two months. To deal with the situation, the Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) is undergoing training to assist the travelers.”

Training in Hilly Areas

“The forces are being given thorough training in the hilly areas so that these soldiers can easily overcome any disaster and help people in trouble during the pilgrimage journey,” added Salathia. This comprehensive preparation aims to ensure a safer and more comfortable journey for all devotees undertaking the sacred Amarnath Yatra.
