All of them were on a vehicle and were going towards East Midnapore. Late on Saturday evening, his car was stopped near Ranihati Mor under Panchla police station and search of the vehicle started. It is being told that a huge amount of cash was kept in the vehicle. On receiving information about the incident, Superintendent of Police Swati Bhangalia reached the spot.

He told that on the basis of intelligence, a special checking operation was conducted at Ranihati Mor. Meanwhile, a car coming from Jamtara in Jharkhand was stopped. Inside the car were three Congress MLAs from Jamtara Rajesh Kachhap, Naman Vicksal and Irfan Ansari. Unaccounted cash was found inside the car.

The SP said that it is not possible to tell how much cash is there at the moment. Bank officials are being contacted. Cash will be counted with the counting machine. The SP said that the MLAs are being questioned. Jamtara MLA’s board was also installed on the vehicle. The inspection of the matter is going on.

The Trinamool Congress has targeted the Center over this incident. TMC said that the central government is selectively targeting the parties with the help of investigative agencies. However, the demand for action against the Congress MLAs is definitely showing a crack in the unity of the opposition. Recently, TMC has spoken of not supporting Margaret Alva in the Vice Presidential election.

With regard to the cash seizure, the police said that the Toyota Fortuner SUV was intercepted near Panchala village. Swati Bhangalia, superintendent of police, Howrah Rural, adjoining Kolkata, said, “We had received specific information that a large amount of money was being carried in a vehicle.” Acting on the information we got, we checked the concerned vehicle. Now we are asking the three MLAs for details and proof about the cash.

On the other hand, Jharkhand Congress working president Bandhu Tirkey said that it looks like a conspiracy of BJP. The BJP has been trying to destabilize the Hemant Soren government ever since it came to power. If we see in Maharashtra and some other states, it will be clear that BJP uses money. She just wants to come to power. I would like to request the party high command to take strict action against these three MLAs so that a strong message can be sent to the other members of the party.
