Mumbai: In another incident after a huge ruckus happened in Maharashtra politics, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned senior Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut. Enforcement Directorate has asked Sanjay Raut to appear tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday. Summons have been sent in Patra Chawl case. Raut has been called for questioning in the land case.
Sending ED summons to Sanjay Raut can create another crisis for the Maharashtra government and Shiv Sena.
On the other hand, Sanjay Raut has informed that he has not received the ED notice yet. Tomorrow is his pre-planned schedule so he probably won’t go to ED office tomorrow. Whereas Sanjay Raut will ask ED for time.
Earlier in April, the Enforcement Directorate had attached assets worth more than Rs 11.15 crore of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s wife and two of his associates in a money-laundering investigation linked to certain land deals.
MP Sanjay Raut to appear before ED’s office in South Mumbai on June 28
Raut, a member of the Rajya Sabha, has been asked to appear before its officials at the Federal Investigation Agency’s office in south Mumbai on June 28 and record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), officials said.
Following this, Raut had accused the BJP-led Union government of misusing central agencies against its opponents. He had alleged that that was an act of vengeance and said the ED’s claims against him will fall flat.
The attached properties were in form of lands held by Pravin M Raut, former director of Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd, in Palghar and Thane districts, a flat in Mumbai’s suburban Dadar area of Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha Raut and eight plots at Kihim beach in Alibaug jointly held by Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar, the agency said in a statement.
Mr Raut, a Rajya Sabha member, responded with the charge that “this is a conspiracy to stop me”. Team Thackeray has been saying that the mutiny led by Eknath Shinde is a result of “pressure of ED, CBI and other agencies” under the BJP-led central government. In his tweet, Mr Raut added that he “won’t take the Guwahati route”, referring to the rebels camping in the capital of BJP-ruled Assam.
I just came to know that the ED has summoned me.
Good ! There are big political developments in Maharashtra. We, Balasaheb's Shivsainiks are fighting a big battle. This is a conspiracy to stop me. Even if you behead me, I won't take the Guwahati route.
