The BJP has been ruling in the state for nearly three decades. Several new faces got the ticket, while several established names remained empty-handed.
Among them is former Morbi MLA Kantibhai Amrutiya, who gained attention for allegedly putting his life in danger to save others during last month’s bridge collapse at Morbi. Rivaba Jadeja, the wife of India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, is a fresh face; she will contest from Jamnagar (north).
The top brass of the BJP, including the prime minister and Shah, as well as his cabinet colleagues Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupendra Yadav, and Mansukh Mandaviya, and also BJP chief JP Nadda, are star campaigners for the upcoming elections in Gujarat.
