On his recent visit to Lucknow, BJP President took a meeting with party workers and reportedly instructed them to put lot more emphasis on inducting Yadavs in the BJP.

By visiting a booth level party worker Sonu Yadav, who lives in Badi Jugauli area of Lucknow and had lunch at his house alongside CM Yogi Adityantah was a clear sign of his intention.

According to party sources, Amit Shah has asked the workers to go to booths, search for Yadavs and Dalits that are interested in joining BJP and ask the booth in-charge to enrol them as members.

The backward castes, with Yadavs being most pivotal, constitute around 22% of Uttar Pradesh’s population. A large base of this population voted for BJP in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and also in 2017 UP state assembly elections.

Now, Shah wants his party to capitalise on this ahead of 2019 polls.
