New Delhi: While taking a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not “do any drama and waited for the truth” while appearing before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the Gujarat riots case.
On the other hand, the Congress leaders and workers protested and came on the roads last week outside the Enforcement Directorate office over Rahul Gandhi’s questioning by the ED in the National Herald case.
“Modi ji didn’t do drama while appearing before SIT. If SIT wants to question CM, he himself is ready to cooperate. Why protest? “Shah said.
The Home Minister further said, “Modi ji set an example, showing how the Constitution can be honoured.” When he was questioned at that time, no workers staged any dharna and didn’t come to stand in solidarity with him… If those who levelled allegations have a conscience, they should apologise.
This statement by Amit Shah comes a day after the Supreme Court gave the clean chit to PM Modi and 63 others in the Gujarat riot case.
The Apex Court upheld the Gujarat High Court order and said that Zakia Jafri’s plea was lacking evidence.
