In an intelligence-led operation against cross-border drug smuggling networks, Amritsar Police has seized 15 kg heroin and also arrested seven drug smugglers. They said that smuggling was being done across the border from Pakistan using drones.
Amritsar: In a major crackdown, Punjab cops has busted illegal Pakistan’s drug network and recovered 15 kg of heroin in Amritsar. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that counter intelligence in Amritsar has seized heroin and also arrested seven drug smugglers. He said that smuggling was being done across the border from Pakistan using drones.
Meanwhile, the DGP said that along with drugs worth Rs 7 lakh in the international market, two cars were also seized from the accused. At the same time, an FIR has been registered in the State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar.
The Director General of Punjab Police posted that the cross-border drug smuggling network has suffered a major setback. Counter Intelligence, Amritsar has busted a big drug cartel and seized 15 kg of heroin after arresting 7 drug smugglers. The mastermind was working with a Pakistan-based smuggler from inside the jail.
Drones were used to transport banned materials from Pakistan. Drug money worth Rs 7 lakh has been recovered along with 2 cars. FIR has been registered in SSOC, Amritsar. The DGP said that Punjab Police is committed to making Punjab drug free as per the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Earlier on Friday, medicines weighing about 2.752 kg were seized in a joint operation launched by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police on the outskirts of Mahdipur village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. The joint operation was launched based on information regarding the presence of a consignment of contraband dropped by drones.
