Andaman and Nicobar: 6.1 magnitude of Earthquake felt in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Earthquake tremors have been felt once again in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in early hours of Saturday morning. According to the National Center for Seismology, the tremors were felt at around 2.30 am. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 6.1 on the Richter scale.

New Delhi: Earthquake tremors have been felt once again in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in early hours of Saturday morning. According to the National Center for Seismology, the tremors were felt at around 2.30 am. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 6.1 on the Richter scale.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the quake was 431 km from Campbell Bay. The depth of the earthquake was 75 km below the ground. The tremors of the earthquake were strong but there is no news of any kind of damage so far.

“Earthquake of magnitude: 6.1, occurred on 24-09-2022, 02:23:00 IST, Latitude: 3.71 & Long: 95.96, Depth: 75 km, Location: 431 km SSE of Campbell Bay, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India ,” NCS said in a tweet.

Earthquake tremors were felt in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands a few days ago as well. According to information from the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake of 4.9 magnitude struck Diglipur, 108 km northeast of the island. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the ground.

Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Manipur on Friday. Strong tremors of earthquake were felt in the morning 100 km southeast of Moirang in Manipur. Its intensity was 4.5 on the Richter scale. This information was given by the news agency quoting the National Center for Seismology.
