Andhra police detain three Congress workers for releasing black balloons near PM Modi’s chopper

New Delhi: Some Congress protesters in Vijayawada released black balloons close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s helicopter as it took off, which may have violated security.

When PM Modi’s chopper lifts off, a protester can be seen releasing the black balloons in a video.

Three Congress workers have been detained by the police in connection with the protest.

Three Congress workers were detained for releasing black balloons just after PM Modi’s helicopter departed from Gannavaram Airport, where a tight security cordon was set up around the airport, according to SP Siddharth Kaushal.

The Prime Minister travelled in a special aircraft from Hyderabad to Vijayawada International Airport before taking a helicopter to Bhimavaram. The Prime Minister congratulated Alluri Srirama Raju, Alluri’s nephew, and Bodi Dora, the son of Alluri’s close aide Mallu Dora, after unveiling the statue of Alluri.

At the event, several other dignitaries like the governor of Andhra Pradesh, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan; the union minister for tourism and culture, G Kishan Reddy; the chief minister, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy; and K Chiranjeevi, a former union minister and well-known actor, were present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister individually talked with Alluri’s family and his close lieutenants in a separate enclosure following the public gathering. Then Modi returned back to the Vijayawada International Airport.
