Andhra Pradesh: Doctor, children charred to death in hospital fire at Renigunta

In yet another incident, A doctor and his children were killed in a massive fire that broke out at his new hospital cum residence building at Renigunta in Tirupati district in the early hours of September 25, 2022.

Tirupati: In yet another heartbreaking incident came to fore from Andhra Pradesh where a doctor and his two children were killed when a fire broke out at a newly constructed private hospital at Renigunta in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district on Sunday. The fire broke out on the top floor of the hospital building where the doctor was staying with his family. Dr Ravi Shankar Reddy and his son and daughter lost their lives. The children, a girl and a boy, were 9 and 14-years-old respectively. The local people saved his wife Dr Anant Lakshmi and mother.

The incident took place around 4.30 am at Karthika Hospital for Children in Bhagat Singh Nagar in Renigunta, near the temple town of Tirupati. The recently opened hospital did not have a single patient. Firefighters shifted Bharat (12) and Karthika (15) to another hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. The condition of the doctor’s wife and mother is said to be stable.

A police officer said that they received information about the fire at around 4.50 am. Two fire tenders reached the hospital and doused the fire. Police suspect that the fire started due to short circuit. Police said the exact cause of the fire would be known after a detailed investigation.
