In a concerning development, Mumbai Police have arrested an individual who made threatening calls to the Police Control Room, claiming association with the notorious Dawood Ibrahim gang. The arrested person alleged that the Dawood gang instructed him to orchestrate an assassination plot targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The caller also issued threats against JJ Hospital, a prominent medical institution in Mumbai. The case has been registered under Section 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which addresses statements promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will between different religious, racial, language, or regional groups or castes.
The statement from the police reads, “A man arrested for placing threat calls at Mumbai Police Control Room in the name of Dawood Ibrahim gang. The man had claimed that the gang had told him to blow up PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. The caller had also threatened to blow up JJ Hospital. Case registered u/s 505 (2) of the IPC.”
This incident follows a series of threats against prominent figures, including an earlier threat to blow up Prime Minister Modi and a stadium in Ahmedabad in October. The Mumbai Police are actively investigating the matter, emphasizing the seriousness of such threats and their potential consequences.
