Hyderabad Airport : A 34-year-old man, formerly employed in the IT sector and hailing from Bihar but currently residing in Bengaluru, has been apprehended for allegedly sending bomb threat emails to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad. The accused had been working in the IT sector from 2012 to 2020.
According to police reports, the accused faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to illness and subsequent job loss. This adversity reportedly plunged him into depression, prompting him to send threatening emails not only to RGIA but also to other vital installations.
The accused sent two bomb threat emails to the airport from his own email account in recent days, causing panic among airport staff. However, subsequent investigations revealed that these emails were hoaxes, prompting law enforcement to take action.
Based on technical evidence, RGIA police apprehended the accused in Bengaluru on February 18. Upon his arrest, a cell phone and a laptop were seized from his possession. The accused has since been brought to Hyderabad for further legal proceedings.
