Arunachal chopper wreckage site located, 2 dead bodies recovered

The crashed Advance Light Helicopter was on a regular flight carrying army personnel. The incident took place at around 10.43 am, for which the search operation was going on.

New Delhi: The wreckage of an army chopper that crashed in Arunachal Pradesh has been found. The rescue team also recovered two bodies. An Army helicopter crashed on Friday morning at Miging in Arunachal’s West Siang district. The Advance Light Helicopter was on a regular flight carrying army personnel. The incident took place at around 10.43 am, for which the search operation was going on.

There is no road leading to the village where there is only a hanging bridge. One Mi-17 and two Dhruv choppers were deployed in the search operation. Local villagers are also involved in the rescue operation.

Upper Siang SP Jummar Basar had told that the accident took place in a hilly area, and search and rescue teams have been sent to the spot.

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju wrote on Twitter, “Sad news received about the crash of Indian Army’s Advanced Light Helicopter in Upper Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh.”

This is the second incident of an army helicopter crash in the state this month. On October 5, a Cheetah helicopter crashed in Tawang district, killing one of the two pilots on board. In March, another Cheetah helicopter crashed near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The pilot also died in this incident.
