In fact, VVS Laxman, the head of the National Cricket Academy and former veteran batsman who played the role of head coach on the Zimbabwe tour, has been appointed as the interim head coach of Team India.
Let us tell you that VVS Laxman has joined Team India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma in Dubai. BCCI has sent him to Dubai as a substitute for Rahul Dravid. Earlier, he has played the role of head coach of Team India in the T20 series against Ireland and the ODI series against Zimbabwe.
BCCI issued a press release stating that Mr. VVS Laxman, Head Cricket, NCA will be the interim head coach for Team India (Senior Men) for the upcoming ACC Asia Cup 2022 to be played in UAE.
The press release further stated that Laxman, who traveled with the Indian team playing the ODI series in Zimbabwe, will oversee the team’s preparations in the absence of Mr. Rahul Dravid, who tested positive for COVID-19 before the team’s departure to the UAE.
