Asian Games 2023: India women shooters clinch first Gold medal in 25m pistol team event

New Delhi: On Wednesday, The Indian women's team performed well in the shooting event of the Asian Games. India won the gold medal in the 25m pistol team event. The trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan won the gold medal in the women's 25m pistol team event at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, china.

New Delhi: On Wednesday, The Indian women’s team performed well in the shooting event of the Asian Games. India won the gold medal in the 25m pistol team event. The trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan won the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, china. The Chinese team won the silver medal with 1756 points while the South Korean team came third with 1742 points.

The team of Manu, Esha and Rhythm finished top with a total of 1759 points to help India win its fourth gold medal in the current Games.Manu topped the final rapid fire series of the qualifiers with 98 points to make it to the finals. Esha also performed admirably, finishing in fifth place with a score of 586.

Rhythm, despite her solid score of 583, missed out on the finals due to the rule allowing only two shooters per country. India also won a silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle three position team event. The trio of Ashi Choksi, Manini Kaushik and Sift Kaur Samra stood second with 1764 marks in the qualification.Hosts China bagged the gold medal with a total of 1773 points while South Korea won the bronze medal with 1756 points.

Sift and Ashi managed to make it to the finals by placing second and sixth respectively, while Manini failed to enter the finals with an 18th position.Sift scored 594 points which is a joint new Asian record in qualifying. India’s remarkable performance at the ongoing Asiad has been noteworthy, accumulating a total of 16 medals, consisting of four gold, five silver, and seven bronze medals.
