Assam: 1 Dead, 30 injured after GMDA main water supply pipeline bursts in Guwahati

The incident in Guwahati affected over 600 people and killed a woman, Gammon maintains JICA pipeline

Guwahati: In Guwahati, Assam, a woman was killed and more than 30 people were injured when a water supply pipeline of the civic body burst. At least 40 houses were damaged by the gushing water in Kharguli area of ​​Guwahati.

Videos containing dramatic scenes of this incident are going viral. In these, water is seen flowing on the roads. Several vehicles were washed away in the huge and strong current of water, creating a flood-like situation in the area. The water spread several feet away.

More than 600 people were affected by this incident and one woman died. The woman lived in a house nearby. The pipeline is maintained by Gammon JICA.

The injured were taken to the nearest hospital. The police have cordoned off the area.

The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has assured that the water supply will be restored soon.
