Assam/Dibrugarh: In yet another shocking incident, a case of gang rape with a 14-year-old girl has come to light in Dibrugarh, Assam. The accused have been identified as Bhaijaan Ali and Safar Ali. Both the accused have been arrested by the police. The victim was found unconscious near Athabari tea garden. Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra gave this information.
Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra told reporters that the two accused have been identified as Bhaijan Ali and Safar Ali.
“Two people were arrested in Dibrugarh for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl. The accused have been identified as Bhaijan Ali and Safar Ali. The minor girl was found unconscious near the Athabari tea garden,” he said.
“Her hands and legs were tied with a rope, and it is suspected that she was gang-raped. She had been missing since February 3. The accused will be prosecuted under Section 376 of the POCSO Act, 2012,” he further said.
Attempt to escape from police custody
Last year, the Assam Police killed two people, including the main accused in the rape of two girls, separately. A senior officer had told that both the accused were trying to escape from the police custody. Special Director General of Police GP Singh had told reporters in Guwahati that both the accused had been arrested and were being taken to their respective crime scene in Guwahati and a tea garden in Udalguri for further investigation. Then he tried to run away.
Dead body found in tea garden
Special Director General of Police Singh said that in another incident, the accused allegedly raped and killed an 8-year-old girl on March 10, 2022, in a tea garden in Udalguri district. The girl’s body was recovered the next day. The accused was arrested from a factory in Changsari area of Kamrup district and tried to escape after which he was shot dead by the police.
