Guwahati: A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck parts of Assam on Monday morning. Strong tremors were felt in Guwahati and surrounding areas for a few seconds. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was Sonitpur.
According to the NCS, the intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 4.4 on the Richter scale. The depth of the earthquake was 15 km. According to reports, tremors were also felt in different parts of Assam.

According to media reports, tremors were also felt in the neighboring states of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. No casualty or damage has been reported so far. Let us tell you that mild tremors of earthquake were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas on Sunday. Earthquake tremors were also felt in many parts of Punjab and Haryana including Chandigarh.
Earlier on Sunday (May 28), earthquake tremors were felt in many parts of the country. The earth trembled again in many places from Jammu and Kashmir to the capital Delhi.
In such a situation, people in Jammu, Poonch, Rajori, Srinagar including Delhi, Haryana felt the tremors of the earthquake. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center said that tremors of 5.9 magnitude earthquake were felt in the city of Faizabad, 70 km southeast of Afghanistan, at around 10.19 am today, whose effect was also seen in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar and Poonch, including Delhi. However, due to the low intensity of the earthquake, there was no news of loss of life or property in any state.
On the other hand, on Saturday (May 27), there was an earthquake twice in Palghar, Maharashtra. According to the National Center for Seismology, Palghar in Maharashtra experienced a second tremor of magnitude 3.5 at 5:15 pm and a second tremor of 3.3 at 5:28 pm. No one was harmed by this earthquake.
