Guwahati: The chief minister of Assam recalled that after he claimed not to recognise the superstar, Shah Rukh Khan messaged him to introduce himself. As per the news agency ANI, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he didn’t know Shah Rukh but knew “film stars of my time.” Talking about the actor’s message, the CM added that Shah Rukh wanted to talk with him.
The CM recently stated, “Shahrukh Khan, who is he?” I have no knowledge of him or his movie “Pathaan.” Reporters had asked him about the violent protest by activists that occurred last week in front of the theatre in Narengi where the actor’s movie Pathaan is scheduled to be screened.
The Assam CM said on Monday, “I know the film stars of my time.” I didn’t know Shah Rukh He sent a message and introduced himself: “I’m Shah Rukh Khan.” I want to speak to you’. I didn’t have time then. So later, at 2 am, we spoke, and I told him that there’d be no disturbance in Assam (amid the movie Pathaan).
The Assam CM had said that Shah Rukh called him and they had a chat over the phone on Sunday, and the actor expressed concern over the protest that took place recently against Pathaan in Guwahati. The Assam CM assured the actor that the state government is ready to probe the demonstration that occurred against the movie and assure SRK that “untoward incidents” will happen again.
“Bollywood actor Shri @iamsrk called me, and we talked this morning at 2 am. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during the screening of his film. I assured him that it’s the duty of the state government to maintain law and order. “We’ll enquire and ensure no such untoward incidents,” CM Sarma said on Twitter.
Pathaan has been facing all kinds of trouble since the release of its first song, “Besharam Rang,” in which Deepika Padukone wore a saffron bikini. A section of people, including political and religious leaders, raised their voices to ban the film and also held protests all over the country.
Pathaan is set to be released on January 25. The film was directed by Siddharth Anand. Besides SRK, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, and Ashutosh Rana are also featured in the film. It is gearing up to be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
