New Delhi: A 36-year-old woman and her son, who went missing from Nagaon in November, have been found in a Pakistani jail, where they were being held for unauthorised entry into the nation. This was stated by the police in Assam on Friday.
She was allegedly deceived and taken to Saudi Arabia on the pretext of marriage using forged marriage documents, then taken to Pakistan. According to Nagaon police superintendent Leena Doley, the woman, who had been widowed two years prior, allegedly sold all her property and left Nagaon in November with a man she had just met and who had assured to marry her.
She stated that last month, when the woman’s mother received a letter from a law company in Pakistan, informing her that her daughter and grandson were landed in the district jail of Quetta in Pakistan’s Balochistan.
Later, the woman’s mother reported the incident to the police, and she got a call from her daughter confirming her location. “The woman used a phone provided to her by a member of the jail staff to make calls to her mother via social media platforms.” “She claimed she was deceived with the promise of marriage, brought to Saudi Arabia using fictitious documents, and then transported to Pakistan,” said Doley.
The woman’s mother petitioned the Delhi High Court and wrote to President Droupadi Murmu for the return of her daughter and grandson.
The top court dismissed her plea on Friday, stating that it was beyond its jurisdiction. She was asked to approach the Gauhati High Court.
