At least 16 passengers injured as bus overturns near Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh. According to the local police, the incident took place at around 2 am when the bus was on its way to Chandigarh from Manali.
Bilaspur: In a tragic incident, A private bus going from Manali to Jalandhar overturned near Hotel Sagar View on the national highway adjacent to Bilaspur city of Himachal Pradesh. 16 passengers were injured in the accident, out of which 11 injured passengers are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Bilaspur and four seriously injured passengers have been referred to PGI.
According to the local police, the incident took place at around 2 am when the bus was on its way to Chandigarh from Manali. Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur, Pankaj Rai said that injured tourists were rushed to hospitals soon after the incident.
According to the information, all the injured in the accident are from Mumbai, Jalandhar, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Odisha. Financial assistance of Rs 5000 per person to the seriously injured and Rs 2000 per person to the partially injured has been given by the Bilaspur administration. DSP Headquarters Rajkumar said that in this case, a case has been registered against the bus driver in Sadar Bilaspur police station for negligent driving.
Meanwhile, the police said the bus driver failed to negotiate the curve which led to the accident. A case of negligent driving has also been filed against the driver and further investigations are underway, they added.
