ATS arrests suspected terrorist with links to ISIS from Aligarh of Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: On Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) said that a suspected terrorist linked to the ISIS was arrested from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. According to an ATS statement, Faizan Bakhtiar was wanted and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for any information leading to his arrest.

Lucknow: On Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) said that a suspected terrorist linked to the ISIS was arrested from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.

According to an ATS statement, Faizan Bakhtiar was wanted and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for any information leading to his arrest.

In its statement, the ATS said that he was part of the Aligarh module of terrorist organization ISIS and had enrolled in the Master of Social Work course at Aligarh Muslim University.

Bakhtiar’s name came to the fore in November last year after the arrest of two suspected self-radicalized terrorists associated with ISIS, Abdullah Arsalan and Maz bin Tariq, from Aligarh. According to the statement, the ATS had seized “prohibited” material from him.

It said that The anti-terrorism unit had received a tip-off that influenced by the ISIS, some radicalised people were involved in anti-national activities and forming a “jihadi group” on the directions of their handlers in the terrorist organisation. The statement said that Bakhtiar was connecting people to the Aligarh module of ISIS.
