Police said that Bittu Bajrangi was taken from Faridabad today by Nuh police, who was arrested after questioning. The search for the other accused is on.
Faridabad: In the latest development in Nuh violence, Police have arrested Bajrang Dal member and cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi in connection with last month’s communal violence in Nuh, Gurugram and other areas of Haryana. In the CCTV footage that surfaced from Faridabad, policemen in plain clothes are seen catching him after chasing him for a long time.
He is accused of rioting, violence, threatening, obstructing official work, obstructing public official from duty and causing harm with a deadly weapon.
It is alleged that the violence was incited due to the provocative statements made by him and Bajrang Dal worker Monu Manesar. Bittu Bajrangi, accused in several other cases, has been caught near his house about 20 days after the violence broke out.
Five people were killed and at least 70 were injured in the communal violence that lasted for 18 hours. It had spread from Nuh to Gurugram and 40 km away to Badshahpur.
Bittu Bajrangi alias Raj Kumar is a fruit and vegetable trader in Ghazipur Bazaar and Dabua Mandi in Faridabad. This 45-year-old Bajrang Dal member has been running a cow protection group for the past three years. In the last one month, three cases have been registered against him for inciting religious sentiments. After the Nuh violence, a case was registered against the Goraksha Bajrang Force chief in Faridabad.
Police said that Bittu Bajrangi was taken from Faridabad today by Nuh police, who was arrested after questioning. The search for the other accused is on. Bittu Bajrangi’s companions are being identified and marked from the video available with the police. The other people who were with Bittu Bajrangi in this incident will also be arrested. Whoever obstructs the work of the police will not be spared.
Faridabad police said that cyber police is monitoring the social media in this matter. Police will also take strict action against those who spread any kind of provocative speech or misleading news. If any person of any caste/religion/class makes provocative speech or posts on social media, strict action will be taken against him.
