Local officials gave this information. The incident took place in a river about 30 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, where a boat carrying sand overturned after colliding with a boat carrying passengers.
Rafi Al Farooq, duty officer of the Fire Brigade Service and Civil Defense Headquarters, said that with the help of the local people, the bodies of three women, three children and two men have been removed. Along with this, he told that the search operation is going on and the administration is keeping an eye.
After the incident, most of the passengers managed to swim to the shore, the official said. Because, the boat overturned near the river bank. Because of this, the passengers managed to save their lives by swimming. At least four people have been rescued in the accident.
“So far, we have recovered the bodies of eight people and four of them have been sent to a local hospital,” said Kais Ahmad, Lohajung Fire Service station officer, according to the Dhaka Tribune. Officials said the dead included women and children.
