Bengaluru resident shocked after finding dead cockroach in Zomato-ordered food; Company respond

Bengaluru: In a distressing incident that has raised concerns about food safety, a Zomato user was taken aback upon receiving an order for food from a Bengaluru restaurant. After ordering chicken fried rice, Harshitha, the customer, was appalled to find a dead cockroach inside her food packet. Following the incident, Harshitha posted a video of it on social media and asked Zomato to provide an “immediate resolution.” The company acknowledged the issue and replied to Harshitha’s post.

Bengaluru resident took to X and dropped a video of the dead insect on a plate of chicken fried rice she ordered from Zomato. Tagging Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, Department of Consumer Affairs and the delivery app in her X post, Harshitha wrote, “I ordered chicken fried rice in Zomato from a restaurant, TAPRI BY THE CORNER. I got a cockroach in my food. Absolutely disgusted with my order. This is completely unacceptable and unhygienic. Need an immediate resolution.”

Harshita, who was expecting a pleasant meal, made a shocking discovery soon after the food was delivered. Instead, he was greeted by the sight of a cockroach inside the rice.

After the Bengaluru woman shared the post, Zomato quickly respond Harshita’s tweet and requested her to send her contact information and order ID through private message, so that the company can resolve the issue.

Zomato’s response to the incident was rapid, as they reached out to Harshitha via social media. “That’s really unexpected, Harshitha. We can understand how you must be feeling. Could you please help us with your registered contact number/order ID via a private message so that we can look into this immediately?” Zomato replied.

This is not the first time a Zomato customer found an unwanted addition in their food. A customer from Hyderabad was disgusted to find a dead lizard in a packet of biryani that was ordered from Zomato as well.
