Bharat Mart: Unveiling India’s Grand Venture in the Middle East

India to Launch Bharat Mart in UAE to Boost Exporters’ Presence

India is gearing up to introduce Bharat Mart, a comprehensive warehousing facility in the UAE, aimed at consolidating Indian exporters’ presence by showcasing a wide array of products under a single roof, akin to China’s Dragon Mart. Although still in the planning phase, the project is anticipated to be operational by 2025, according to an official statement.

Spanning over 100,000 square meters, Bharat Mart is envisioned as a versatile complex combining warehouse, retail, and hospitality spaces. Positioned in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), managed by DP World, the mart intends to cater to various product categories, including heavy machinery and perishable goods, through its retail showrooms, warehouses, offices, and additional facilities.

An integral part of the initiative includes the development of a digital platform, enabling global buyers to easily purchase goods from Bharat Mart. This project is crucial for India and the UAE as they aim to double their non-petroleum trade to $100 billion by 2030, facilitated by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The leaders engaged in extensive talks, exploring new cooperation areas and reinforcing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Their discussions spanned trade and investment, digital and fintech innovations, energy, infrastructure projects, cultural exchanges, and broader regional and global matters.
