A passenger bus fell into a deep gorge in Tungi Mor area of Akhnoor on Jammu-Poonch National Highway (144A). So far 15 people are reported to have died in this accident. About 40 passengers are said to be injured. Of these, 20 have been referred to GMC Jammu.
Rescue operations are being conducted by the police and local people. The injured were taken to Akhnoor Upazila Hospital (Akhnoor Sub-District Hospital). From where seriously injured passengers are being referred to Jammu Medical College.
According to preliminary information, this UP number bus was going from Jammu to Shivkhodi. The number of the bus is UP 86EC 4078. This bus fell into a deep ditch at Tungi Mor in Akhnoor. There were more than 60 passengers in the bus. SDM Akhnoor Lekh Raj, SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma, Police Station Incharge Akhnoor Tariq Ahmed are engaged in rescue work at the spot.
The bus, bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number, fell into a deep ditch at Tungi Mor, Akhnoor, while en route from Jammu to Shivkhodi. The accident has prompted an immediate and large-scale response to rescue and provide medical assistance to the victims.
