Big action of WhatsApp in India, 29 lakh accounts banned in January alone

WhatsApp company has said in its monthly report that between January 1 and January 31, 2,918,000 WhatsApp accounts were banned.

Taking major action, WhatsApp banned 29 lakh accounts in India in the month of January. WhatsApp has given this information in its monthly report on Wednesday. It was said in the report that WhatsApp has banned 29 lakh accounts in India in January 2023 as per IT Rules 2021 after user complaints and action taken by WhatsApp.

The company has said in its monthly report that between January 1 and January 31, 2,918,000 WhatsApp accounts were banned. Of these, 1,038,000 accounts have been banned as a precautionary measure. WhatsApp said that the report contains information on actions taken in response to complaints received from users in India through official complaints.

The social media giant said it took action on accounts through its prevention and detection methods for violating India’s laws or WhatsApp’s terms of service. A WhatsApp spokesperson said that WhatsApp is an industry leader in preventing abuse among end-to-end encrypted messaging services.

WhatsApp said it uses tools and resources to prevent harmful behavior on its platform. The social media giant said it is exclusively focused on prevention as it believes in preventing harmful activity from happening in the first place.
