New Delhi: Big blow to team India as Injured Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has reportedly been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh starting December 22 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Rohit, who missed the first Test in Chattogram after injuring his thumb during the second ODI against Bangladesh, will now skip the trip to Dhaka, according to sources.
With Rohit not traveling to Dhaka, vice-captain KL Rahul will continue to lead India in the second and final Test of the series, which India currently leads 1-0.
The report said that the news of Rohit’s unavailability came to light on Monday (December 19) when it was found that the captain’s thumb has not fully recovered and is suffering from slight stiffness.
The report further stated, keeping in mind the important tasks ahead for the Indian team, the BCCI, the selection committee and the team management have decided not to risk him at this stage.
Rahul said in the press conference after the match on Sunday, I think we will know about Rohit in the next day or two. Even I don’t know about it. The focus was entirely on the Test match.
However, the BCCI has not yet shared any official information about Rohit Sharma playing in the second match. Whereas, when stand-in captain KL Rahul was asked about Rohit’s injury after winning the first Test, he said, “We will get to know about his condition in the next day or two. Right now I also have no information about his injury.
