Big initiative by CM Yogi! 12 more units of ATS will be built in the state

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a big initiative to prevent terrorist activities in the state. To prevent such activities in the state, he has been approval to set up 12 new units of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) – a special branch of police – in UP. Apart from this Yogi has also sought proposal how to strengthen ATS and has ordered to equip the special squad with state of the art resources.

ATS Commando training centre will be built in these districts

To combat any militant activity, ATS unit and commando training centre will be set up in 10 sensitive districts of Uttar Pradesh; Meerut, Aligarh, Shravasti, Bahraich, Greater Noida (Jewar airport) (Noida), Azamgarh (near airport), Kanpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur and in Saharanpur’s Deoband. Orders have been given to the respective district for providing land and construction of the buildings. Land allotment is likely to happen soon for setting up of ATS unit in PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency, Varanasi and Jhansi. To make it more effective, the government has instructed new field units at Indo Nepal border in Bahraich and Shravasti, where the operations of the ATS are going on smoothly.

ATS able to destroy terrorist designs

Meanwhile, ATS in Uttar Pradesh has captured 69 terrorist linked to ISI, Hizbul Mujahideen, Jaish e Mohammed, JMB, ISI Jasus, Popular Front of India (PFI), Naxal, Terror Funding, ABT/Bangladesh, Babar Khalsa, fake Indian currency, and 216 accused related to various crimes in connection to such terror outfits. Apart from this, many accused have been arrested while busting the syndicate which lured deaf students, people from weaker income group to convert their religion with lucrative deals like money, job and marriage. On January 16, ATS arrested and sent 18 accused including three Chinese nationals to jail for activating a large quantity of fake mobile sims on the basis of coded forms. This case is related to economic scam as well as anti-national activities, which are being investigated deeply.

Special team is all prepared for dangerous operations

Just like National Security Guard, an elite counter-terrorism unit, a Special Police Operation Team (SPOT) of ATS was formed in 2017 in UP to combat terrorist activities and protect state against internal disturbances. The SPOT personnel have taken training from special trainers of police like BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP etc. The SPOT has five teams ready; two teams are under training and two other teams are still under proceeding. Apart from this four teams of the first sniper team of UP police have also been prepared which have been trained by the National Security Guard (NSG).
