Big relief to Salman Khan, Bombay HC quash the complaint lodged against actor by a journalist alleging misbehaviour

Mumbai: Salman Khan has got a big relief from the Bombay High Court in the matter of misbehaving with the journalist and snatching the phone. On Thursday, the Bombay High Court dismissed the case while giving its verdict. The journalist had filed a complaint against Salman in the year 2019.

Earlier, the Metropolitan Court had issued summons to Salman Khan in the misbehavior case. Against this, the actor had moved the Bombay High Court. Justice Bharti Dangre had said, “What procedure was followed before initiating the proceedings? You have claimed that force was used? But for what?

What were the allegations against Salman?
Let us tell you that in his personal complaint given before the magistrate, journalist Ashok Pandey had alleged that Salman Khan had snatched his phone while cycling on the streets of Mumbai. During that time some media people were taking his photographs. He had claimed that Salman had argued with him and threatened him.

Last year, the magistrate had ordered a police probe under section 202 of the CrPC in this matter. Apart from this, taking the proceedings forward, summons was also sent to Salman under section 204 of CrPC. Salman’s bodyguard Nawaz Sheikh was also made an accused in this case.

What did the court said?
In the last hearing, the High Court had stayed the summons. The court had said that there is a need to improve the statement of the complainant. Justice Revati Mohite Dere had said that being a journalist, the complainant should not remain silent and all his allegations should be in the first complaint itself. In the case, Salman’s lawyer had argued that the actor had only asked his bodyguard to stop the journalist from taking photographs.

The court told the lawyer of the journalist, “Mr. Council let people maintain their privacy,” Justice Dangre also said that you have forgotten that Salman attacked you? This thing was said about the lack of his complaint.

When the lawyer of the journalist said that no one is above the law, Justice Dangre said that neither you nor he is above the law. He said that even the press people are not above the law.
