Popular Bigg Boss 16 contestant and global sensation Abdu Rozik has been interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case. The ED had summoned him last week to record his statement regarding his association with drug dealer Ali Asghar Shirazi.
Abdu Rozik, renowned for his stint in Bigg Boss 16, appeared at the ED office in Mumbai on Tuesday to provide his statement. According to his lawyer Prashant Patil, Abdu’s involvement is strictly as a prosecution witness against Kunal Oza, as clarified in compliance with the law.
Patil stated, “My client, Mr. Abdu Rozik, was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in the capacity of a prosecution witness against one Mr. Kunal Oza. As his duty towards the law enforcement agencies in our country, Mr. Abdu Rozik has traveled all the way from Dubai to depose his statement under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.”
Last week, Abdu Rozik and his Bigg Boss 16 co-contestant Shiv Thakare were both summoned by the ED. Ali Asghar Shirazi’s company, which financially supported startups including those of Shiv Thakare and Abdu Rozik, is under scrutiny. The company is alleged to have been involved in narco-funding.
Abdu Rozik, known for his fast-food venture Burgiir in partnership with Hospitality Through Hustlers, has also been associated with the money trail. The opening ceremony of his burger restaurant in Mumbai, attended by celebrities like Sonu Sood, took place last year.
