Bihar Business Summit:The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with eight companies operating in the textile and leather sectors, marking proposed investments totaling Rs 554.4 crore. The occasion was the inaugural session of the two-day global investors’ summit ‘Bihar Business Connect-2023,’ where Bihar Industries Minister Samir Kumar Mahaseth urged the Centre to establish four Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state to open doors for additional investment opportunities.

Bihar Seeks Special Status for Accelerated Development in Key Sectors


Minister Mahaseth emphasized the positive transformation in Bihar’s policies, envisioning significant industrial growth as a catalyst for the state and the nation’s progress. He also advocated for Bihar’s special status to boost the state’s development, focusing on sectors like food processing, leather, textiles, and information technology.

Kamal Oswal, Nahar Group: Enhancing Bihar’s Industrial Landscape


Kamal Oswal, representing the Nahar Group of Industries, unveiled plans to establish a logistics park in Patna, contributing to the state’s infrastructural development. He further announced the commencement of Monte Carlo brand production in Bihar. Highlighting the group’s widespread operations in Punjab and Rajasthan, Oswal emphasized the substantial workforce employed by the company, with approximately 25,000 individuals, 40% of whom hail from Bihar.

Vijay Jha, the Director of Savi Leathers, shared his entrepreneurial journey that began with the establishment of a leather garment factory in 2009. The company has evolved significantly since its inception, achieving remarkable success in exporting goods to 12 countries. Jha’s narrative reflects the growth and global presence of Bihar’s leather industry.
