New Delhi: Everything is not on track between the BJP and its partner JD (U) in Bihar. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wasn’t present at the swearing-in ceremony of President Droupadi Murmu today in the national capital.
Earlier, he missed several events organised by the BJP by giving excuses, showing that some rift has developed between the two alliances in Bihar. Nitish Kumar remained absent at a meeting called by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 17 for Chief Ministers. He missed several functions recently when invited by the top brass of the saffron party.
Besides this, he skipped the dinner party hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind.
President-elect Droupadi Murmu became the first tribal woman to take the oath on Monday as the 15th President of India. Earlier, she was escorted by Vice-President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to the Central Hall. She is the youngest President of India.
At 10:15 am, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana administered the oath to her in the central hall of Parliament.
Droupadi Murmu registered a historic victory over his rival Yashwant Sinha on July 22 in the presidential polls, becoming the second woman after Pratibha Patil to occupy the highest office in the country.
