Thirty stray dogs have been killed so far in Bihar's Begusarai district in the last two days.
Begusarai: The Bihar government has taken the initiative to kill stray dogs. Several expert shooters have been hired by the Bihar environment and forest department. As per media reports on Thursday, thirty stray dogs have been killed so far in the state’s Begusarai district in the last two days.
Shooters gunned down 15 dogs on Tuesday, and nine more stray dogs were killed by shooters on Wednesday.
As per the officials, dogs had created havoc in the Begusarai district. Dogs used to attack people, and in this process, several persons were killed by stray dogs. Women were on the receiving end because dogs attacked them most of the time in various villages of the district’s Bachhwara block.
A woman died on Sunday at the district hospital due to a dog bite. On Monday, dogs attacked and wounded three other women while they were working in the fields. Currently, they are being treated.
Dogs have so far killed nine women in a year in the district, and several have received injuries. The villagers are terrified due to dogs’ attacks on a regular basis, so thousands of villagers are living in danger. Last month, dogs killed four people. Some dogs have turned into man-eaters.
What makes dogs ferocious?
Officials believe that the primary reason may be that the villagers left animal carcasses out in the open; they didn’t bury them. In this way, dogs became habituated to eating those carcasses and became ferocious, which changed their physical behaviour.
