A case of mob lynching has come to light in Bihar's Siwan district. The mob thrashed a man badly on suspicion of carrying beef. In this case, the police have so far arrested 3 people and the search is on for some people.
Siwan: A youth was brutally thrashed by a mob on suspicion of carrying beef in Siwan district of Bihar. After this this person was admitted to the hospital. This Muslim man died in the hospital on Tuesday night. Naseem Qureshi, 56, and his nephew Firoz Ahmad Qureshi, residents of Hasanpur village, were on their way to meet some acquaintances when a mob allegedly attacked them at Jogia village, about 110 km northwest of Patna, Saran Superintendent of Police Gaurav Mangla said.
Police told that Naseem Qureshi and his nephew Firoz were caught by the villagers near a mosque. Firoz Qureshi managed to escape, but the mob thrashed Nazim Qureshi with wooden sticks. Police say that the mob itself handed over Qureshi to the police in Rasulpur village, after which he was taken to the hospital, but he died during treatment.
Whether Naseem Qureshi and his nephew Firoz were carrying beef or not, it is not yet clear. Police is investigating in this matter. Local sarpanch Sushil Singh and two others – Ravi Shah and Ujjwal Sharma – have been arrested on charges of mob lynching. Police is looking for two more people, whose names have also been registered in the police complaint by nephew Firoz Ahmad Qureshi.
