Bihar police launch probe over suspicious death of five people in Gopalganj

The deceased were named as 50-year-old Sikandar Sah, 55-year-old Suresh Ram, 30-year-old Tinku Ram, 25-year-old Rohit Sharma, and 65-year-old Jhagru Raman, SDM said. "Jhagru Ram, a resident of Baikunthpur, died of a cardiac arrest. Suresh Ram has died due to food poisoning. No one has died due to poisonous liquor. The post-mortem report will reveal the actual cause of death," he added.

Patna/Bihar: Bihar cops launches probe after five people died under suspicious circumstances in Gopalganj. The incident took place in different villages of Baikunthpur police station area. The age of the deceased ranges between 25 to 65 years. All these deaths occurred between 18 and 20 November. Officials said on Monday. “Five people have died, and this death is not due to poisonous liquor. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sadar Pradeep Kumar said.

Three dead after drinking spurious liquor in Sitamarhi
Earlier on November 19, three persons died and one was rushed to hospital after consuming spurious liquor in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district. Three persons have been apprehend so far on charges of selling fake liquor, they added.

“Following a secret information that two persons were undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sitamarhi after drinking spurious liquor, police reached the spot in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

“However, by the time they reached at the hospital, one person recognized as Awadesh Kumar had died. The exact cause of death can only be ascertained after post-mortem,” a police statement said

BJP DEMANDS PROBE
In this whole incident, the family of one of the deceased has said that he used to drink alcohol. On this, State General Secretary of Bihar BJP and former MLA of Baikunthpur Assembly Mithilesh Tiwari has demanded a detailed probe from the district administration and Bihar government. Mithilesh Tiwari has also issued a statement claiming that five people died due to drinking poisonous liquor. He said that five people have died one by one due to drinking alcohol in Baharampur. Many people are ill.
