Patna: Bihar Police on Wednesday rained lathi on the aspirants of the state Staff Selection Commission (SSC), who were gathered to protest against the paper leak of the graduate level joint preliminary test in Patna. A senior police officer said five protesters were detained and no one was injured in the incident.
The protesters were raising their voice to cancel the examination of all sittings, like the first one was annulled. The first three rounds of the examination took place on December 23 and 24, 2022. The question paper for the first one surfaced on social media, leading to the cancellation of the examination.
RJD leader and state Environment Minister Tej Pratap Yadav spoke after the incident and assured the SSC aspirants that they would be employed this year. He further added that I am going to talk to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy, Tejashwi Yadav, regarding this matter, and additionally, he said all essential actions will be taken against the culprits, who are involved in the paper leak.
Vijay Kumar Sinha, a veteran BJP leader and the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly, was shocked by the incident and said it was a “reflection of the government’s insensitivity.” He said that the lathi charge by police was “barbaric” when the aspirations were protesting peacefully demanding for the cancellation of all examinations.
Interestingly, JD-U president Lalan Singh said this is not the first case of a lathi charge. “Yeh to hota rehta hai” (such types of happenings are going on). Singh warned the accused they would get a harsh punishment for trying to break the law.
