In the wake of the devastating train derailment near Bihar’s Buxar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the incident that claimed four lives and left around 70 passengers injured. The tragedy occurred when 21 coaches of the North-East Express, en route from Delhi’s Anand Vihar station to Kamakhya station in Guwahati, derailed near Raghunathpur station in Danapur division of the East Central Railway.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, Nitish Kumar conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for strength for them to endure this tragic loss. He described the incident as “disheartening” and expressed his profound sadness.
The Chief Minister has taken swift action by instructing government officials to guarantee that the injured passengers receive adequate medical care. Additionally, he has earnestly prayed for their speedy recovery. Simultaneously, he has called upon the authorities to conduct a comprehensive and thorough investigation into the root cause of the derailment incident.
In response to the tragedy, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the completion of evacuation and rescue operations. Union Minister of State for Railways Ashwni Choubey visited the site to oversee the restoration efforts and assured that every possible measure is being taken to restore rail operations.
An inquiry into the incident has been initiated to determine the cause of this unfortunate mishap. As of now, the injured passengers are receiving treatment at AIIMS Patna and are reported to be out of danger.
