Bizarre! On CCTV, youth congress chief manhandled by cops, his hair pulled during protest

New Delhi: In the breaking development in the case, Many Congress leaders were detained during a protest in the country’s capital Delhi today. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi already in custody for the protest. In a video that surfaced during the protest, police can be seen pulling hair from Youth Congress chief BV Srinivas as he scuffles.

Srinivas later said, “They hit me. They pulled my hair.” Earlier, Srinivas was heard shouting when a policeman was pulling his hair. In the video, a policeman can be seen brutally pushing them into the car. Condemning the ‘barbaric’ police action on the protesters, this video has been shared by several Congress leaders. On the other hand, Delhi Police has said that it will take action against its employee seen in the video.

Talking to sources, an official said, “We are trying to identify the employees. After identification, disciplinary action will be initiated against the staff.” Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who led the protest, was also among the detained party leaders. They were later taken to a police station.

These workers/leaders were protesting on the issue of Enforcement Directorate’s questioning of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case, inflation, GST and unemployment. Congress leaders had gathered on a major road near Parliament to march to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A large number of police forces present here took them into custody. Rahul Gandhi sat on the road for some time, during which he was surrounded by police personnel. He was taken into custody and taken in a bus along with other Congress leaders.
