BJP Appoints Bhupender Yadav and Shivraj Singh Chouhan as In-charges for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Polls

Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. The upcoming assembly elections are to be held in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand and Jammu Kashmir. Earlier, BJP President JP Nadda has appointed state election in-charge and co-in-charge here.

Maharashtra: Bhupender Yadav, the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, will lead the election efforts. He will be supported by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railways Minister, as the election co-in-charge.

Jharkhand: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Agriculture Minister, will oversee the election activities with the assistance of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the election co-in-charge.

Haryana: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as the in-charge, with former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as the co-in-charge.
Jammu and Kashmir: Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy will manage the elections.

State-Specific Details

Maharashtra: Currently governed by a BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-Ajit Pawar) alliance, with Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister. The BJP-led NDA won 17 seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections, compared to the MVA’s 30.

Haryana: Governed by BJP’s Nayab Singh Saini, supported by independents and smaller parties.
Jharkhand: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress alliance is in power, with Champai Soren as Chief Minister after Hemant Soren’s arrest.
Jammu and Kashmir: Elections are mandated by the Supreme Court to be held before September.

The appointments come after BJP and its allies performed poorly in Maharashtra and Haryana in the recent Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The strategic deployment of top leaders is aimed at strengthening the party’s position and ensuring better performance in the upcoming state elections.
