Kolkata: BJP national vice president and MP Dilip Ghosh sparked another controversy on Sunday by saying that corrupt Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders need to be tied up to trees if they are not allowing the expenditure of panchayat funds.
Speaking to a worker meeting in East Burdwan district on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Ghosh said, “You need to question Panchayat members where the funds have gone that were issued for development works.” If they are not able to share details, then tie them to a tree.
He alleged that the TMC has been looting public money for the past five years. He went on to say the public will teach them a lesson in the next panchayat elections.
He said, “In the last panchayat election, we were stopped from filing nominations.” TMC stole votes and won the election. The corrupt leaders are hiding due to the agitation of the people. They should be asked to provide full details.
Ghosh went on to say that TMC leaders should be prepared to face public backlash for corrupt practises at the panchayat level.
“BJP has been trying to eradicate corruption and violence; the party has 77 MLAs and 18 MPs.” The Panchayat election is around the corner. In the last panchyat election, we were not able to file the nomination.
He said, “Parivartan is possible in West Bengal through these panchayat elections, and the money that is being sent by the central government will be used for the development of the poor.”
