Kolkata: A demonstration was organised by hundreds of residents against BJP MP Locket Chatterjee, who was on a visit to Bengal’s Shantiniketan to see the family of a five-year-old kid who was discovered dead at her neighbour’s house on September 20.
The Trinamool Congress, which is in power, was accused by the BJP of orchestrating the protest.
After facing fierce protest by the local residents, Locket Chatterjee demonstrated in front of Shantiniketan police station against police inaction and also raised her voice amidst the law and order situation in the state.
The situation had not improved in the Santiniketan area of Birbhum, where the boy was discovered dead a day earlier. The boy went missing on Sunday from Moldanga village, and after around 50 hours, his body was recovered from the terrace of a neighbour’s home. A mob gathered immediately, and the house was ransacked and torched by a huge crowd.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested a woman from where the body of the deceased was found in a plastic bag.
