Scenes from the scene showed Nadda being carried out of the venue safely, while the fire engulfed the upper part of the makeshift pandal in Lokmanya Nagar area in the heart of the city.
According to the information, There are no reports of any casualties in this incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Suhail Sharma said that after the fire broke out in Ganesh Pandal during Nadda’s tour, the police officers on duty immediately took action with local cooperation and deployed firefighting units.
An official of the fire department said that the fire appeared to have started due to fireworks in the pandal set up by the Sane Guruji Ganesh Mitra Mandal. Pune City BJP president Dheeraj Ghate and security personnel were seen taking BJP president JP Nadda out of the replica pandal of Ujjain’s famous Mahakaleshwar temple. After the fire started raining in the area, the fire could be brought under control.
DCP Sharma said that the BJP president left the spot to attend aarti at another pandal of Lord Ganesha in Kothrud area of the city. He said, “The fire was successfully brought under control and no one was injured.” Sharma said that the fire broke out due to firecrackers set off by Ganesh Mandal members to welcome the guests.
