BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla lashed out at the AAP government in Punjab shortly after the state government released employees' salaries for the month of August after a week-long delay.
Chandigarh: The relationship between the BJP and AAP is on a knife edge. Both parties leave no stone unturned in criticising each other.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla lashed out at the AAP government in Punjab shortly after the state government released employees’ salaries for the month of August after a week-long delay. Poonawalla claimed that AAP had money for advertisements but not for salaries.
BJP leader Poonawalla took to twitter regarding the salary issue in Punjab and wrote, “AAP Govt has money for advertisements but no money for the salaries of Punjab Govt staff. There is no money to reimburse hospitals for giving free treatment to the poor in Punjab. There is no money for teachers’ salaries in Delhi or for DDU college. No money for athletes who represent India, win medals and make the country proud. “
On Wednesday, the Punjab government released Rs 3,400 crore to pay salaries to its staff for the month of August.
The Finance Minister, Harpal Cheema, made it clear that the delay took place because the government had to regularise 9,000 contractual and ad hoc employees.
Speaking on the negative reports, the state’s finance minister said, “We have been providing new jobs on a regular basis for the last few months. In fact, “we have provided more than 17,000 new jobs within six months.”
“It takes time to make a new salary structure, but the salaries for Group C and Group D employees have already been given,” he said.
He also took a jibe at the saffron party, saying, “How much money should be deposited in the sinking fund? Why are you spending all your money on distributing “political ravines”? How many jobs have been given to people till now?
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal accused the AAP of “total mismanagement and chaos”.
